Can Tottenham finally claim a major scalp as the North London club continue their gradual ascension in club football?
Later tonight, it all goes down at Wembley where they go up against the might of Real Madrid, and after their performance at the Bernabeu, they should go into this game confident of beating Zidane and his boys.
They should even be more buoyed by the fact that it's a Real Madrid team who just got humbled by recently promoted Girona.
Deservedly so.
So the once invincible Los Blancos of last season, look to have a few creaks in their armor and Spurs should exploit that as they have the players and talent to do so.
For Tottenham, they are coming off the back of a loss as well, although it was undeserved. For most of the game, Tottenham had United where they wanted them and all they needed was the goal to show for their very accomplished performance at Old Trafford.
They did this without their star striker, showing people that they aren't a one-man team. But Harry Kane is still very much needed if they want goals, as nobody else on the squad can be as proficient as him.
Pochettino will know how Madrid play. Zidane won't change his approach, and especially after their crushing loss which may have already ended their chance to defend their league title, they will be out for blood from the first whistle.
It's going to be important more than ever for Spurs to keep their shape, and not allow themselves to be cut open by the passes Isco and Modric will be threading through for Benzema or Cristiano.
Spurs were very good defensively against United, and I did not see how either Rashford or Lukaku were going to score. But all it took was one moment where they lacked concentration, and Martial swooped in to take the three points.
That can't happen tonight. If Cristiano gets a sniff on goal, there is a greater chance of him scoring than almost anyone else on the planet. Even if he's quiet for most of the game, he's the kind of guy that only needs half a chance to punish you.
He's still not the best player in the world, by the way.
The Belgian duo of Alderweireld and Vertonghen will have to be at their very best. Ensuring Benzema has no effect on the game, which won't be hard to do, and they don't give Cristiano a millisecond to breathe as well as watching for the evasive movement of Isco.
Eriksen will need to pull the strings again just as he did against United. It's great to see he is coming into the playmaking role, as he's got a great brain and eye for a pass. That was an aspect of the game I always knew he had, but it took him a few seasons to show that.
Now, he's proving he's just as indespensable to the team as Kane and Alderweireld are.
With Spurs at home, they must look for the win. And that will come from how Eriksen can find Kane, Son and his other teammates. Keeping in mind that without Varane, Nacho is a liability that can be exploited.
Kane must look to keep making those runs across the defence and offer Eriksen the chance to find him. The key should be forcing Nacho to have to come out of position to read the game, where he can be goaded into a mistake.
Nobody is thinking of Spurs being potential winners of the competition. Quarter-finals may perhaps be the furthest they go. But tonight, Spurs can change that perception if they have one of their very best games.
Madrid will be out for blood, Spurs must be ready for that and know how to reply. HH
