KANE NEEDS TO PROVE HE'S WORLD CLASS AGAINST MADRID

This is the match. This is where Harry Kane can finally enter World Class territory.

The biggest game of his career so far. Real Madrid, defending champions, and in one of the most storied stadiums in football.

Stage is set for Kane to show whether he is in fact the successor to Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, and can be regarded as one of Europe's most elite strikers.

A lot has been said of the kid's exploits. His incredible goal tally and the way he has lead the frontline for a team of underpaid overpeformers has been amazing. The consistency and quality of his goals is what you see from the very best finishers.

I've said many times that a striker's only mission is to hit the net as many times as possible and Kane does that very well. He's the talk of the town, the darling of English football, and so why am I being stubborn?

Can't I just join the crowd and hand him his world class badge already?

I'm stubborn for one, and I also have this belief that to be called world class, you have to perform against the best of the best. To quote the immortal Ric Flair:

"To be the best, you gotta beat the best."

And they come no better than Real Madrid.

I'm sure Kane will find it hard sleeping tonight. This is the kind of match that keeps you up, your mind rolling through all the different situations that can happen in the game.

These are the kinds of games that get palms sweaty but also brings out the joy in you. The lights, setting and atmosphere are what football and the Champions League is about.

But Kane needs this. He really needs to do what he's done for the past few years against this type of team. Sergio Ramos is regarded as perhaps the best central defender now, and Kane has to go up against him and try and be that split second quicker.

Ramos rarely makes a mistake, but if he does, Kane has to take his chance. He won't get many.

I am ready to christen him as world class. All he has to do is bring that form we've seen all season to the Bernabeu on Tuesday night. HH
